Live the Day
A great deal has happened since Kevin Wilkey’s first book, Laughter in the Sky: Confessions of a Flying Instructor, was published in 2010. Live the Day is a new collection of short stories, stories that reflect what has been happening in his life and the world around him since 2010, and one or two about his earlier life. As ever, they are written in Kevin’s easy writing style, with a good dose of kiwi humour.
This is a book which will have wide appeal. There are aviation stories (including one which narrates his involvement in Marlborough’s most famous celebrity wedding), stories about his travels overseas, as well as stories which reflect his passion for cars. It is also a deeply personal book as Kevin writes about his serious medical diagnosis. The title, Live the Day, reflects the fact that tomorrow is promised to no-one so we must all enjoy every day. His final story, “Golden Moments” explores how he has coped with his diagnosis and how each day has its own golden moment.
