A Sentimental Journey is memories captured by its author Gwenda Hodson of her childhood (1930s and 1940s) in the then isolated Onamalutu Valley on the north bank of the Wairau River, Marlborough, New Zealand.
Her memories are entwined amongst the stories of the many families who lived in the valley at the time, before then and since – a precious snapshot in time of a way of life long-gone.
