New Zealand’s involvement in WWI is well recorded : this then is the story of one soldier’s part and mostly written by himself.
James Rudd was born in Greendale, Canterbury on 23rd September, 1891, and was 23 years old when he went off to fight in Gallipoli and Palestine 100 years ago.
We are fortunate to be able to collate his war diaries, letters, photos and interviews into print, in his memory, as part of family and national history.
